My friend, Koey :iconkoeyohte: , wanted some tips on drawing wolves. Definitely not an expert myself, but trying to see what I can do for her.

One of the main problems a lot of people say they have, is that their wolves look like dogs or foxes. For this reason, I have decided to do three comparison charts:

Skulls: [link]
Pretty straight forward.

Heads: You're already here
Four realistic heads, each accompanied by four cartoony possibilities. Obviously, there are many, many more versions possible, but this shows a few ways to pick out each species/sub-species' definining traits, and exaggerate them.

Bodies: Pending

Interesting. Having them up side to side makes the characteristic features stick out. Thanks for sharing.

Inclosed in this message is something called a chili dog!

Yes! This is exactly what I've been looking for in the way of canine references. Great job, and thanks.

It depends on if you are using the more general term (being any mammal with non-retractable claws and dog-like features), or if "canine" is being used to mean "true dog" of Canini as opposed to Vulpini. Science tries to be pretty good about standardizing things, but layman terms often come under the same name and fuck it up. XD That said, I'm editing in "canid", because I should probably not add to the confusion.

I love all the goofy versions, my fav is the coyote. He's such a character!

Thanks for making this (and the first) I've been puzzling on ways to distinguish my Coyotes from my Wolves for a long time, and I think I might be able to get it right with the skulls and these examples.
