This gal/guy actually isn't an octopus, but rather is a 'bobtail squid'. The design works for three species:

- Euprymna berryi
- Rossia pacifica
- Euprymna scolopes

There is no final color design, because these guys can change color for communication or to blend in. Bobtail squids can either emit a diffuse cloud of ink, or even an ink blob that is roughly the same size and shape as them. Sometimes bobtails will leave a little chain of squid shaped ink blobs, then sit at the end while turning a dark, inky color. Yeah, they are that awesome. This little squirt is an animator, and perhaps morbidly uses squid ink to draw. Imagine getting 8 frames done at once. ;)

The fly at the bottom is my favorite species of fly, the Rabbit Botfly. Sure their larva burrow into skin and cause horrible infections...but they are so cute as adults! [link]
This guy is also animating. Flies would make pretty awesome animators. Six legs to work with, and a brain that detects motion so fast that it's almost as if they perceive things in slow motion (which would be really, really helpful when trying to find out how the heck a, say, weasel moves). Plus, adult botflies have no mouths. I don't know about you, but if I start animating, I'm not eating (or sleeping) that night.
