Donate $2 to Snow Leopards for FREE!

Wed Mar 11, 2009, 4:04 PM
Don't usually do these things, but sounds legit. The organization in question seems to also be one that doesn't just protect the cute/fluffy/appealing-to-humans flagship species (in this case, the snow leopard), but also works to protect the whole habitat, meaning better protection for an area which has incredibly unique and diverse plant and wildlife. They also work with local communities, and appear to contribute to the scientific understanding of snow leopards and their environment. Signing up honestly only takes a second. Here's a direct link to the page below to make it even easier. :) [link]

Anyway, copy/pasted:

The Snow Leopard Trust (www.snowleopard.org) needs your help!

They would like to you to sign up for their eNews and have others sign up as well. For every new subscriber, the Kearsley Fund will donate $2 to the Snow Leopard Trust. Their goal is 3000, but they are NOWHERE CLOSE! However, if we all sign up and post this in our journals, we can help donate up to $6000 for snow leopard conservation!

Visit here for more info!: "www.snowleopard.org/news/currentnews/sign-up-to-save-snow-leopards"

Please, sign up today, copy this into your journal and +Fav this story to spread the word! With just a little bit of effort, we can make a big difference!

Comment from the Snow Leopard Trust

"Thank you so much for posting this note!! It's such an easy way to contribute without having to do much besides sign up for a fantastic enews :-) Once again...THANK YOU to you and everyone who signs up. On behalf of the Trust, it truly does make all the difference."

(PS. The counter is an image that is updated manually, so you will not see your contribution right away.)

Snow leopards are one of the animals included within the comic I'm working on. Lately I've been researching the insect life of Asia for the project. Here are two types of parasitic flies I came across that I thought were neat enough to share (these guys aren't from the area, though there is a Himalayan subspecies of the sheep ked which is):

The cute: The Rabbit Bot Fly
[link] What a cute fly, right? All grey and white and fuzzy. Well, their young are less attractive.
[link] Okay, so not too bad looking...but these guys burrow into flesh, and there is a human bot fly which will tunnel into humans. I'll leave you to look up your own images, 'cause ow.

The not so cute: The Sheep Ked
[link] Yummy!
[link] No sir, I am not a tick.

Enjoy! >:-D

Wow. The big Guy Upstairs must have quite an imagination... :P

Thanks for the information, I guess. I have to say, while most people just post about their lives on journals, you demand the masses to think about things. Which isn't bad.

Is it wrong to sign up on multiple email accounts if the scamming efforts go toward saving an endangered species?

:iconwadifahtook:
Yes! Though I wish buggy bugs talked and didn't just make quick appearances in this comic. But there is another project I might pick up again which has lots and lots of talking arachnids in it. :D

Haha, wish it was that easy. XD
:iconwadifahtook:
I was pondering that myself. XD I chose against it, but it was rather tempting.
